Writing
I am a novelist and short story writer, and my work has been nominated for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize, the Writers’ Trust McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize, the Carter V. Cooper Short Fiction Competition, the Australian Book Review’s Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize, the Mogford Food and Drink Writing Prize, and the Grindstone International Novel Prize.
I recently earned my PhD at Queen’s University Belfast, where I was studying English and Creative Writing on a Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship. At Queen’s, I wrote my first novel and a critical thesis on food, gender, and literature. I moved to the UK from my home country of Canada to study an MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia in 2016.

Editing
As a freelance editor, I have worked with international non-profits, small businesses, and individuals on a variety of projects, including reports, technical guidance, funding applications, blog posts, social media content, and book chapters. I have a keen eye for detail and strive to help clients communicate as clearly and effectively as possible. Since 2025, I have also been delighted to be a reader for the Bristol Short Story Prize.

Teaching and Mentoring
Through the National Centre for Writing, Queen’s University Belfast, Bristol Folk House, the Public House Norwich, and elsewhere, I have taught Creative Writing workshops, lessons, and courses for adults and young people. In 2018, I was also Writer-in-Residence at Queenswood Girls School. As a teacher and mentor, I aim to equip my students with the tools, confidence, and encouragement to feel excited and empowered to keep writing.
